VICKS COUGH LIQUIDIFYER 200 MG/15 ML SYRUP
Fluidifying in acute and chronic affections of the bronchial system.
Dosage and method of use
Adults and children over 12 years 15 ml (equivalent to 3 coffee spoons) Children from 6 to 11 years 10 ml (equivalent to 2 coffee spoons) Children from 2 to 5 years 5 ml (equivalent to 1 coffee spoon) These doses can be repeated every 4 hours, up to 6 times a day. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE.
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients listed in paragraph 6.1.
Allergic manifestations with itching, redness and erythema may be found in subjects hypersensitive to the components. Gastrointestinal disorders which may include symptoms such as: nausea, vomiting and diarrhea may rarely occur with guaifenesin. Reporting of suspected adverse reactions Reporting of suspected adverse reactions that occur after authorization of the medicinal product is important, as it allows continuous monitoring of the benefit/risk balance of the medicinal product. In case of determination of 5-hydroxy-indole-acetic acid and vanillylmandelic acid, guaifenesin may cause a false positive result. Do not administer to children under two years of age, unless advised by a doctor. The product contains sucrose, this should be taken into account in case of diabetes or low-calorie diets. Patients with chronic or persistent cough, such as that which occurs due to asthma, smoking, chronic bronchitis and emphysema should contact their doctor before taking this medicine. If symptoms persist for more than 7 days, consult your doctor. After a short period of treatment without appreciable results, consult your doctor. Important information about some of the excipients of VICKS COUGH FLUIDIFYER VICKS COUGH FLUIDIFYER contains sucrose: patients suffering from rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, or sucrase isomaltase insufficiency should not take this medicine. VICKS COUGH FLUIDIFYER contains 30 mg of sodium in 15 ml. This information should be taken into consideration by patients undergoing a low sodium diet. VICKS COUGH FLUIDIFYER contains 5 vol% ethanol (alcohol), which corresponds to 640 mg per 15 ml of medicine, equivalent to 15 ml of beer or 6.3 ml of wine. It can be harmful to those suffering from alcoholism. This information is to be taken into consideration by pregnant or breastfeeding people, children and people at high risk such as those with liver failure or epilepsy.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
The safety of guaifenesin during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. ''During pregnancy or breastfeeding the product should only be used on the advice of your doctor.
Expiration and conservation
Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.
Interactions with other drugs
No interaction studies have been performed.
Absorbed guaifenesin is rapidly metabolised and excreted in the urine. Treatment of overdose involves addressing specific symptoms. A mild or moderate overdose may cause confusion or dizziness and gastrointestinal upset. Very high doses can produce symptoms such as excitation, confusion and respiratory depression, nausea and vomiting. Treatment should be symptomatic, requiring gastric lavage and general supportive treatments. Rare cases of kidney or urinary stones have been reported in patients who have taken large amounts of guaifenesin for long periods of time.
