FRONTLINE SPRAY
CLINICAL INFORMATION
Therapeutic indications
treatment and prevention of tick, flea and lice infestations in dogs and cats aged 2 days or more. Fipronil rapidly exerts its lethal action on ticks, preventing the development of the parasite and the possible transmission of infections of which the tick is a vector. It is active against the main species of ticks present on the national territory, including Ixodes ricinus, responsible for the transmission of Lyme disease to dogs, cats and humans. Fipronil acts on fleas by rapidly killing adult forms, thus preventing egg laying and therefore new infestations. Thanks to its lethal action on adult fleas, fipronil effectively contributes to the control and resolution of Flea Allergic Dermatitis (FAD) which, in dogs and cats, is caused by the sensitizing action exerted by the antigens contained in the saliva of these parasites. Furthermore, with a single treatment, fipronil controls and resolves lice infestations in dogs and cats quickly and definitively, in particular those caused by Trichodectes canis, the dog's biting louse and by Felicola subrostratus, the cat's biting louse.
Posology and method of administration
2-4 sprays for each kg of weight. Depending on the length of the hair, spray from 3 to 6 ml of product / kg of weight. This volume corresponds to 2-4 sprays (1 delivery is equal to 1.5 ml) for each kg of weight. A single application of the product protects the animal from new infestations by ticks, fleas and lice, in particular: from ticks: up to 1 month after treatment in both dogs and cats; from fleas:
* up to 3 months after treatment in dogs
* up to 5 weeks after treatment in cats. For correct ectoparasitic prevention it is advisable to carry out monthly treatments in the periods of greater seasonality. External use: by nebulization. Spray the entire surface of the animal's body "against the grain", from a distance of 10-20 cm, holding the bottle in a vertical position. The nebulization must be practiced in a homogeneous way, so as to uniformly "wet" the hair of the whole body. At the end of the nebulization, carefully rub the back, shoulders, hips, abdomen, legs and neck to get the product in direct contact with the skin. For the head and the area around the eyes, apply the product on a glove and wipe it gently “against the grain” on these parts. At the end of these operations, let it dry naturally. Fipronil concentrates in the sebaceous glands of the hair follicles, in the 24 hours following application. Baths, rain, shampoos do not interfere with the duration of activity of the product against ectoparasites.
Special warnings and precautions for use
keep away from flames or heat sources. Keep away from food, feed and drink. During use, do not contaminate food, feed, drink or containers intended to contain them. Properly ventilate the room while dispensing the product. To dispense the product, protect your hands with gloves. Do not inhale, do not ingest or cause to be ingested. Avoid contact with pregnant women and small children. In case of accidental ingestion consult a doctor. The product can cause irritation to mucous membranes and eyes. It is therefore advisable to avoid contact with the mouth and eyes. In case of accidental contact with the eyes, wash thoroughly with water. It is advisable to avoid contact with Frontline Spray to animals or people with known sensitivity towards insecticides or alcohol and not to touch the animals and not to let children play with treated animals until the hair is dry. Wash hands after use. Do not smoke, drink or eat while applying.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE:
for external use only. Avoid spraying the product in the eyes of animals, on the mucous membranes and inside the ear. Baths, rain, shampoos do not interfere with the duration of the product's activity against ectoparasites. It is important that animals do not lick each other after treatment. Dogs should not be allowed to swim in streams for 2 days after applying the product as Fipronil can be harmful to aquatic organisms. If not properly applied, individual ticks could attach themselves to the dog or cat. For this reason, in the worst case, the transmission of infectious diseases cannot be completely excluded. Fleas present on animals often infest the animal's basket, blankets and areas where the animal lives, in particular carpets, curtains and furnishing fabrics; these, in case of massive infestations and at the beginning of the pesticide treatment, can be treated with a special insecticide and regularly cleaned with a vacuum cleaner
