SERESTO COLLAR FOR DOGS over 8 KG

Pharmacotherapeutic group

Pesticides for external use.Excipients
Titanium dioxide (E 171), Black iron oxide (E 172), Dibutyl adipate, Propylene glycol dicaprilcaprate, Epoxidized soybean oil, Stearic acid, Polyvinyl chloride.Active principles
A 70 cm (45 g) collar contains 4.5 g of imidacloprid and 2.03 g of flumethrin as active ingredients.
Indications
For the treatment (Ctenocephalides felis) and prevention of flea infestation (Ctenocephalides felis, C. canis) for 7-8 months. It protects the animal's surroundings from the development of flea larvae for 8 months. Seresto can be used as part of a treatment strategy for the control of Flea Allergic Dermatitis (FAD). The product has a persistent acaricidal (killing) efficacy against tick infestations for 8 months (Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Dermacentor reticulatus) and repellent (anti-feeding) efficacy against tick infestations (Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus) . The product is effective against larvae, nymphs and adult ticks. Ticks already present on the dog before treatment may not be killed within 48 hours after applying the collar and remain attached and visible. It is therefore recommended to remove the ticks already present on the dog at the time of application. Prevention of new tick infestations begins within two days after the collar is applied. The product provides indirect protection against the transmission of the pathogens Babesia canis vogeli and Ehrlichia canis by the vector tick Rhipicephalus sanguineus, thus reducing the risk of canine babesiosis and canine ehrilichiosis for 7 months. For the treatment of biting / biting lice infestation (Trichodectes canis). Ideally, the collar should be applied before the flea or tick season begins.
Contraindications
Do not treat puppies younger than 7 weeks. Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients.
Dosage
Cutaneous use. One pet collar should be applied around the neck. For dogs over 8 kg apply a 70 cm long Seresto collar. For small dogs up to 8 kg body weight apply a Seresto collar for dogs. Conservation
This veterinary medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions.Warnings
Generally, ticks will be killed and dropped off the host within 24-48 hours of infestation without having eaten a blood meal. It is not possible to exclude that single ticks attach themselves after treatment. For this reason, if conditions are unfavorable, a transmission of infectious diseases by ticks cannot be completely ruled out. As with all topical products used long-term, periods of excessive seasonal hair loss can cause a slight and transient reduction in effectiveness due to the loss of part of the active ingredients linked to the hair. The replenishment of the active ingredients from the collar begins immediately restoring full effectiveness without any additional treatment or replacement of the collar. For optimal control of the flea problem in severely infested domestic environments, it may be necessary to treat the environment with a suitable insecticide. The product is water resistant and remains effective even if the animal gets wet. However, prolonged and intense exposure to water must be avoided, as well as abundant washing with shampoo, as the duration of the activity may be reduced. Studies show that monthly shampooing or immersion in water does not significantly reduce the 8-month duration of effectiveness against ticks after redistribution of the active ingredients in the hair, while the effectiveness of the product against fleas gradually decreases. starting from the fifth month. Special precautions for those administering the product to animals: keep the bag containing the collar in the package until use. As with all veterinary medicinal products, do not allow small children to play with the collar or put it in their mouths. Do not allow pets wearing the collar to sleep in the same bed as the owner, especially if they are children. People with known sensitivity to the components of the collar should avoid contact with the latter. Immediately remove any debris or scraps from the collar. After applying the collar, wash your hands with cold water. Overdose: Due to the nature of the collar, overdose is unlikely and no signs of overdose should be expected. An overdose of 5 collars around the neck was studied in adult dogs for a period of 8 months and in puppies of 7 weeks for a period of 6 months, with no adverse events observed other than slight shedding and mild reactions. cutaneous. In the unlikely event that the animal eats the collar, mild gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g. loose stools) may occur.Interactions
None known.Side effects
Occasionally, in the first few days after application, mild behavioral disturbances may be observed in animals that are not accustomed to wearing collars, which may include scratching of the application site. Make sure the collar is not adjusted too tightly. Mild reactions at the application site such as itching, erythema and hair loss may occur. These reactions have been reported as rare (affects 1 to 10 animals in 10,000) and usually resolve within 1-2 weeks without the need to remove the collar. In individual cases, temporary removal of the collar may be recommended until symptoms disappear. In very rare cases (affects less than 1 in 10,000 animals), application site reactions such as dermatitis, inflammation, eczema or lesions may occur and in these cases removal of the collar is recommended. Also, in rare cases in dogs, mild and transient reactions such as depression, change in appetite, salivation, vomiting and diarrhea may occur initially. The frequency of possible adverse effects is defined using the following convention: very common (affects more than 1 in 10 animals) common (affects 1 to 10 animals in 100) uncommon (affects 1 to 10 animals in 1,000) rare ( affects 1 to 10 animals in 10,000) very rare (affects less than 1 animal in 10,000) not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data).Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Laboratory studies with both flumethrin and imidacloprid in rats and rabbits did not produce any effects on fertility or reproduction and did not show any teratogenic or foetotoxic effects. However, in target animals, the tolerability of the veterinary medicinal product during pregnancy and lactation has not been established and therefore, in the absence of available data, the product is not recommended in pregnant or lactating bitches.
