FRONTLINE COMBO SPOT-ON DOGS P

Pharmacotherapeutic group

Topical ectoparassicides.Excipients
Butylhydroxyanisole (E320), Butylhydroxytoluene (E321), ethanol Polysorbate 80 (E433), polyvidone, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether.Active principles
Each 0.67 ml pipette contains: fipronil 67.00 mg (S) -methoprene 60.30 mg.
Indications
For the treatment of dogs weighing between 2 and 10 kg: to be used against infestations by fleas, ticks and biting lice. Treatment of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides spp.). Insecticidal activity against new adult flea infestations persists for 8 weeks. It prevents the multiplication of fleas by inhibiting the development of eggs (ovicidal activity), pupae and larvae (larvicidal activity) born from eggs laid by adult fleas, for 8 weeks after application. Treatment of tick infestations (Ixodes ricinus, Dermacentor variabilis, Dermacentor reticulatus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus). The product has a persistent activity against ticks for up to 4 weeks. Treatment of biting lice infestations (Trichodectes canis). It can be used in the Flea Allergic Dermatitis (FAD) control program.
Contraindications
In the absence of data, do not use the product in puppies younger than 8 weeks and / or weighing less than 2 kg. Do not use in sick (eg systemic diseases, fever) or convalescent animals. Do not use in rabbits as life-threatening adverse reactions may occur. In the absence of studies, it is recommended not to use the product in species other than the target species. This product is intended for dogs only. Do not use in cats and ferrets, to avoid overdose phenomena.
Dosage
One 0.67 ml (P) pipette for dogs weighing 2 to 10 kg, corresponding to the minimum recommended dose of 6.7 mg / kg of fipronil and 6 mg / kg of (S) -methoprene, to topical skin application. In the absence of safety data, the minimum treatment interval should be 4 weeks. Method of administration: Hold the pipette straight and tap lightly on the narrow part of the pipette so that the liquid contained remains in the wide part of the pipette. Break off the pre-cut end. Open the hair at the base of the animal's neck, between the shoulder blades, and highlight the skin. Place the tip of the pipette on the skin and squeeze the pipette several times until completely empty by applying the product, in one point, directly on the skin. It is possible to observe transitory variations in the appearance of the coat in the area of application (greasy and ruffled appearance of the coat).storage
Store at temperatures below +30 degrees C. Store in the original package.Warnings
It is advisable to avoid immersion in water or baths in the 2 days following the application of the product and baths more frequently than once a week, since there are no data available to demonstrate how much this affects the activity of the product. Emollient shampoos can be used before treatment, but if used weekly after applying the product, they reduce the duration of protection against fleas to about 5 weeks. Weekly baths with 2% chlorhexidine medicated shampoos did not reduce the product's efficacy against fleas in a 6-week study. It is advisable not to allow dogs to swim in streams in the 2 days following the application of the product (see paragraph 6.6). Single ticks could attach themselves to the dog. For this reason, in the worst case, the transmission of infectious diseases cannot be completely excluded. Fleas present on animals often infest the animal's bed, blankets and areas where the animal lives, in particular carpets, curtains and furnishing fabrics; these, in case of massive infestations and at the beginning of the pesticide treatment, can be treated with a special insecticide and regularly cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. Avoid contact with the animal's eyes. It is important that the product is applied in an area where the animal cannot lick and take care that the animals do not lick each other after the treatment. Special precautions for those administering the product to animals: the product can cause irritation to mucous membranes, skin and eyes. It is therefore advisable to avoid contact with the mouth, skin and eyes. It is advisable to avoid contact with Frontline Combo Spot On Dogs to animals or to people with known sensitivity to insecticides or alcohol. Do not let the contents come into contact with your hands. If so, wash your hands with soap and water. In case of accidental contact with the eyes, wash thoroughly with water. Wash hands after use. Do not touch animals and do not let children play with treated animals until the application site is dry. It is therefore advisable not to treat the animals during the day, but to treat them in the evening and, if just treated, not to let them sleep with the owners, especially with children. Do not smoke, drink or eat during application. Overdose: In the safety studies no side effects were observed in puppies of 8 weeks of age, in growing dogs and in dogs weighing approximately 2 kg, treated once at doses five times higher than the recommended dose. The risk of the occurrence of side effects may however increase in case of overdose, therefore animals should always be treated with the pipette of the size corresponding to their body weight.Interactions
No known interactions.Side effects
Among the extremely rare phenomena of suspected adverse reactions, transient skin reactions at the application site (skin discoloration, local hair loss, itching, redness) and widespread itching or hair loss after application have been described. Hypersalivation, reversible neurological symptoms (increased sensitivity to stimulation, depressed, other nervous symptoms), vomiting or respiratory symptoms have also been observed. If the animals lick each other, a transient hypersalivation may be observed mainly due to the excipients of the product. Do not exceed the recommended dose.Pregnancy and breastfeeding
The product can be used during pregnancy and during lactation.
